Supporting Romsey Mill

Christmas is a difficult time for many children’s charities, so for our January 2022 Rubbish Cooks event we will be supporting Romsey Mill, an inspiring local charity that supports children, young people and families in Cambridgeshire. As usual, our event itself is completely free, but for this special event we will be asking for a cover charge of £40 per person. This will pay for the chefs & waiters time and includes a generous donation of £20pp to Romsey Mill.

The Monthly Supper Club

Rubbish Cooks is a monthly supper club held on the last Monday of every month, at Parker’s Tavern restaurant in Cambridge. The event highlights the importance of reducing food waste, by creating a menu using only ingredients that were destined for the bin due to sell-by dates, dented packaging or being unpopular offcuts or wonky products.

Reducing Food Waste

Tristan Welch, the Chef Director of Parker’s Tavern is passionate about reducing food waste in homes and in restaurants and this passion inspired him to create the Rubbish Cooks supper club. While promoting the sheer volume of food waste we produce (approximately 6.7 million tonnes of food annually in the U.K alone), the event showcases how you can create a delicious meal, with only a few ingredients – and a little bit of Rubbish!

Our Responsible Restaurant

Each month the team receive a whole cow and butcher it themselves, to showcase how every piece of the animal can be used. The Parker’s Tavern team also recycle their cooking oil and monitor the carbon footprint of the menu, only buying from suppliers within a 30-mile radius. This guarantees guests a ‘Delicious taste of Cambridge’ but also ensures the ingredients are ethically and responsibly sourced.
